Unlike drawing, re-holstering should be done slow and cautiously. You need to make sure that danger is no longer eminent. You also want to be careful that you do not accidentally get your gun hung up on clothing. Your first step is to get your clothing out of the way. Then, you will re-holster by doing the reverse of drawing and making sure you have reengaged the safety. If you are in doubt of your skills, seek out a class with NRA certified instructors.
- Even if your gun isn’t loaded, practice drawing out of the public eye.
- Don’t be quick to put you gun in the holster. Make sure the situation is under control before doing so.
- Practice different re-holstering methods to determine which one works best for you.
“There will never be a contest on the planet to see who can get their gun back in the holster the fastest.”
